Calling all post-primary history teachers!
eTwinning is a framework for schools to collaborate over the internet with other partner schools from around Europe. Using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) two or more schools from two or more European countries can work in partnership on a project of their choosing. The eTwinning portal can be found at www.etwinning.net
A bilateral Ireland-UK eTwinning workshop will take place on the 28th-30th November in Belfast.

- to develop excellent eTwinning projects based on History and Culture-Our European Heritage

Curriculum Development Unit
The Curriculum Development Unit is a member of the Consumer Citizenship Network(CCN) http://www.hihm.no/concit/ and chairs a task group that is responsible for developing teacher resources on Education for Sustainable Development. The Special Education Support Service is seeking to establish a panel of Assignment Assessors who will be available to assess assignments as part of the Post-Graduate Certificate/Diploma Programme of Continuing Professional Development in Special Educational Needs (Autistic Spectrum Disorders).

Athlone Education Centre Annual General Meeting
The AGM of Athlone Education Centre was held on Tuesday, 26th February. A new committee has been elected for the year 2008 - 2009 and details of committee members can be found here.

In building capacity for Music & Gaeilge for Primary Level Athlone Education Centre is currently seeking teachers who may be interested in training to become support tutors for the above subjects - click here for further information.

Autumn courses for Primary Schools Mainstream and ICT relased on the Internet, followed by post to schools.
Post Primary courses will be released at the end of this week.

Athlone Education Centre will close for Summer Holidays from Monday, 30th July to Friday, 10th August inclusive. The Centre will re-open on Monday, 13th August at 9.30a.m.

Write-A-Book Awards Ceremony in Moate Community Centre. Schools involved have been notified and we look forward to meeting students, parents and teachers on the night.

Athlone Education Centre will close for Summer Holidays on Friday, 21st July next and will re-open on Tuesday, 8th August at 9.30a.m. Enquiries received via e-mail, fax and/or phone message during this time period will be dealt with upon re-opening.

The initial Summer Courses from July 3rd to 7th have just finished and we wish all those involved a well deserved break for the next few weeks. Two courses remain and will occur from August 21st to 25th next. Both of these courses are full.

The full range of Summer Courses has now been circulated to all schools in the catchment area. Details are also available on-line from the courses page. In addition to full course details, the page also contains links to the appropriate booking form and full instructions on how to reserve a place on your chosen course.
March 21st to May 9th - Spring Day in Europe 2006
Spring Day in Europe – the successful event to give schools a voice in the debate on Europe – will be organised again in 2006. The 2006 edition builds on the positive results and the demand from schools to continue the event. The theme for Spring Day 2006 will be "Debating our Future". The new website, http://www.springday2006.org/ is now live.
